Welcome to ESSEX TECHNOLOGIES. We are a contract product development firm whose niche markets include medical, opto-mechanical, and precision mechanical assemblies for the consumer and industrial markets. We have extensive experience in mechanism design, lens and mirror/prism mounting for long-term stability and vibration susceptibility of optical systems, fiber optics coupling and implementation, and military hardware. This knowledge enables us to quickly review design ideas and establish a work path for successful implementation. Our emphasis is to work with the client to develop a work plan, determining and meeting milestones, and following though to a finished product.

We use Solidworks 3D design software and Cosmos analysis software for design verification. Additionally, we have close ties with associates in Optical Engineering and Design, Electronics Design, Software Development and Manufacturing processes. These capabilities allow us to assist in complete system design, fabrication and delivery. Our recourses complement your staff and help bring your products to life. From complex to simple mechanisms, production fixturing, sheet metal enclosures, optics and their mounting and fabrication to prototypes and production.

We have a broad range of experience in a variety of industries such as:

• THE MEDICAL INDUSTRY, in mechanical design of such products as the peak flow monitor, endoscopes, and a whole body CAT scanner.
• THE OPTO-MECHANICAL INDUSTRY, in creating products such as FTIR Spectrometers, grating spectrometers, DLP projection systems and many more.
• THE SEMI-CONDUCTOR INDUSTRY, in designing and manufacturing wafer transport systems, SEM chamber and pump specifications and wafer heat/cool modules for applying and processing of photo-resist layers.
• LIFE-SCIENCES: Part of a development team for the design, fabrication and testing of a 96 pipette mechanism for aspiration and delivery of test samples. The mechanism is essentially 96 micro pumps, which allow precision sample size and control in a compact delivery system not previously available in this configuration.
• MECHANICAL FABRICATION/PROTOTYPES: Most often we provide prototyping and fabrication services to complement our designs. This service allows us to rapidly verify all design calculations with a physical model. Our fabrication services include multi-axis CNC milling, CNC lathe, Single and Two-Axis Diamond Machining of optics, EDM, sheet metal enclosures, and injection molding in hard and soft tooling.
